Shawn Marion stated that as of today (4/25/05) he would not play in Game 2. He said there is no possible way that he could play if the game was today. He has absolutely no range of motion in his wrist. The Suns are awaiting a second MRI that was taken Monday afternoon (fingers crossed). Hopefully, the trainers will work some magic...

I'm counting the days now until some 18-year-old kid knocks Shane Battier out of the NBA.

MAN - really, really, really got to cross our fingers with that MRI. I figured we were gonna lose one of our first two at home - and if we have to keep Shawn out for precaution and give him five full days to recover then so be it. I'm still confident with JJax in there and Amare rebounding that we can win Game 2 without Shawn - it'll be tough, but we can do it.

For some reason, I don't know what it was, but before the playoffs, I thought there was gonna be a need for Walter McCarty to give us some big minute s- kinda like Todd Day back in the day when he had that 15 point quarter versus the Spurs.

It would REALLY suck if Shawn was seriously injured or he reverted to last year's form because the foul.

again - as much as we want there to be a game every other day - sometimes the schedule works out in your favor. Doesn't surprise me that he's totally stiff today - but the guy continued to play, dunk and shoot and hit at least one three - he'll be okay in a week or so - just have to weather the storm without him. If we're really a championship team - we should still be able to plish off the 8 seed without him and with a one game lead already.

Shawn Marion is the 1 starter the team hasn't won without him

Isn't that the 2nd time this year, Battier has made a cheap shot against a Suns player?

it wasn't that bad of a foul. Sheesh you guys - it's the playoffs. You don't give up layups - he hit him on the arms. It had a negative effect, but I don't think it was malicious or anything.

That's sucks. I did something similar to my wrist nine years ago while rollerblading. I really don't think I could have even dribbled a basketball within the first week. I know I couldn't write with that hand for a while. I couldn't do push-ups for a few months.

Well he got called for a flagrant which means it automatically goes under review. It's up to the league how bad it is.

Chris - do you let the league think for you?

You think it was malicious? I didn't think you needed someone else to form your opinion.

It says Marion would be out of game 2 if it were played today.

Lets see how he feels on Wednesday.

I don't think Battier meant to hurt anyone.

Even Shawn Marion didn't think it was malicious. At first glance I thought it looked like Battier grabbed both arms and pulled him down. Once I saw the replay I thought it was a relatively clean foul on a guy who was kind of off-balance.

i think it was the other guy on the play that kinda tripped him that sent him to the ground. i didnt get to see it more than the two angles that they showed.

I don't know a lot of things, but I know Shane Battier doesn't do anything with malice. Personality wise, he's a lot like KJ in his younger years -- telling the refs what a great call that was (when he commited a foul), etc.

Marion has a sprain. If his wrist were broken, there would be no possible way for him to return in Game 1. The fact that it's very swollen now is consistent with sprains and he may not have much mobility for Game 2. Maybe he sits for a game, but it's a game at most. More time with the big unit. Maybe Bo Outlaw logs some playoff minutes.

Some dude w/ 19 posts quotes Marion basically saying there's almost no way he'll play in game 2 (which would be all over TNT and ESPN and the net by now), and you guys bought it?

Not me, I am waiting for Wednesday unless the Suns make an announcement.

Not only that, but the only other time he started a thread in this forum, it was to report that Gary Payton was coming to the Suns.
