This has got to be the quote of the year so far!!!! :biglaugh::biglaugh:

This better be the kind of smoke screen like that that you could emit from your car in the game Spy Hunter back in the 80's.

Just stay outta Jersey!

Just saw this on the bottom line of EPSN Classic. Should've known you guys would've had 7 pages on this already.

WOW. Insanity. This draft is gonna be crazy. It hasn't even started yet and my mock is blown.

Personally, if one of the two top QBs drops to 8, I hope it's Vince Young and I hope we go after him.

-Thinks it's a long shot to trade up to #2.

-Denny and organisation likes VY.

-If they went up to #2 it would be for Young.

-Cardinals thinking Cutler, Huff or Sims avaliable at #10.

-If Lienart is avaliable 'they would run up to the podium'.

-In love with Vernon Davis - but wouldn't go up to #2 to do it.

-Cards don't think Brick's would be avaliable.

-Would go D at #10 unless someone slips or a QB is avaliable.

This is incredibly wise, IMO.

Don't be surprised if Bush falls further. Saints would more likely go after Ferguson if they cannot trade down. Then, the Titans might pass on him for a franchise QB. Bush will be a Jet either way. If the Titans pick up Leinart or Young, the Raiders will pick up the QB the Titans didn't get. I don't think there really is any chance Leinart comes to AZ. Too many other teams interested in him that draft before us.

I wouldn't count on Bush "falling".

If anything, someone else is going to break their neck to trade up and get him high.

I think this is the stupidest move I can ever recall a team making. Even if they really like Williams, you wait until you are on the clock to announce it. They certainly could've gotten some sort of trade.

If they were using the draft chart, not really. Its insanely expensive to move up to Number 1

For example, The Jets have to trade both their Number 1 picks (4 & 29) as well as a high 3rd rounder just to move up to Number 2. There is about a 200 point difference between Number 1 and Number 2 so somebody would have to give up more than that. That wasn't likely to happen

A trade wasn't likely, I agree. But, now there is no chance of one. The stupidest part is taking Williams over Bush.

Just because the two sides have an agreement, does that mean it is a done deal? I don't think so. Doesn't sound like a contract has been signed.

I disagree. But we shall see. I dont see people rushing to buy tickets for a QB that has lost a lot of the luster from his Jr. year at USC, has a history of shoulder problems, and wont be playing for as long as 2 years.

This is insane. First, we all know that Warner's likely to miss a start or two due to injury, and I have no doubt that Leinart will beat out Navarre in camp for the #2 job. Second "lost a lot of the luster from his Junior season"? Where is this even coming from? The guy lost two games in three years, and lost his last game because his defense couldn't stop one guy and Pete Carroll went in to full-on choke mode.

Leinart will sell 10K Cardinals jerseys overnight and the excitement he'd bring to the franchise would be immense. All those SoCal transplants living in the Valley? A ton of them are former Trojans.

Absolutely no way 10,000 more tickets are bought just at the drafting of Leinart. If it happens and he lands in our lap that means the stadium will be a guaranteed 100% sellout based on current #s. So we shall see.

He very much lost some luster. He was a national championship QB his Junior year and was easily the consensus #1 pick had he come out of school. This year he now has the chance to drop as far as #10? He has a history of shoulder injuries now as well. If thats not losing luster I dont know what is?

I agree he is likely to start one two or even three games with Warner likely getting hurt. If he doesnt beat out Navarre for 2nd something is terribly wrong.

Saints are reported to be in talks with Jets and Niners. Asking price in both instances are both #1's plus a #1 from next year. (I don't think that's gonna happen).

Regarding its impact on the draft (& Zeno's sensible take on Deuce McAllister notwithstanding) I think NO will keep the pick and is at least 50% likely to draft Bush (Only other options being Ferguson or the outside chance it would be Davis).

Net-Net: My gut tells me the Houston surprise will have little if any impact on the rest of the draft.

Note - My gut also tells me that there appears to be a huge disconnect between (a) who the media pundits and we fans think a team in the top 10 is likely to do and (b) what that team actually will do. If you're DG or RG, you have to like that because there's a better than even chance someone we really like (whomever that might be) will accidently drop into our laps at #10.

Not stupid, It has been done before. They got the guy they want, probably at a discount over Bush. There will be no contract holdout and the rest of the teams have to love it, due to the first guy signing and the rest fall in line theory . The only guys who think it is stupid are the agents, who just got slotted big time. Now Wiliam makes all of the mini camps, workouts and a decent shot at producing in his rookie year.
Jimmy Johnson did it with the Cowboys when he took Russell Maryland out of Miami. Gave up the higher profile player for a sure thing who played as a rookie for less money. Stupid would be if they blew the 2nd round pick.

But hey who says they can't do a draft day deal and trade rights to Williams? I seriously doubt it, but starnger thongs have happened.

P.S. This deal has Dan Reeves written all over it. Charlie Casserly is a lame duck GM who is gone post draft and Reeves is the consultant calling the shots. He must have a plan.

Who's the biggest bonehead of the bunch when it comes to drafting Charlie Casserly, Dave McGinnis or George Boone? The stupididty of people never ceases to amaze me. I don't care what Casserly says, it all came down to who would sign the cheapest deal. Mike Mamula , er, Mario Williams wasn't even a dominant player in college but at least he had a nice combine. He was very good but by no means dominant. Reggie Bush had to be accounted for everywhere he was on the field and usually by more than one person. You don't come across guys like that very often. And to pass on him for a guy who's career stats, and i'm guessing here, are probably similar to Calvin Pace's, is downright ludicrous. Can you imagine if this was the Cards doing? Maybe the Texans should draft Mike Kudla in round 2 because he bench pressed alot at the combine.

I have to believe this is Dan Reeves draft. Gary Kubiak may have some input, but Charlie might just be doing the paperwork.

I forget where i was reading it,but Williams had the majority of his sacks in a few games. He had a couple 3 sack games against teams like Wake Forest. He did have a nice game against FSU but their OL was a sieve this past year. Look at what Miami's defense did to them. Miami had a good defense but that OL was pretty bad.
