Apparently, Easton Cowan is available.

Nothing is pointing to a Toronto Maple Leafs trade of their most promising young player. But the indication is that the Leafs aren't totally opposed.

Tuesday's episode of The Chris Johnston Show featured new insights from the NHL insider that suggest Cowan, and most of his teammates, could be moved if the price is right.

Johnston said that the Leafs are willing to discuss trades of any player on their roster except Auston Matthews.

Whether or not that's the right approach with Matthews likely depends mostly on how Matthews feels about staying in Toronto.

But could Cowan really move? That'd be bold.

The Maple Leafs obviously want to bounce back from their rough season, but they also can't totally dismiss the future. They're about to make the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft -- that could be Gavin McKenna, or someone else, but either way, it's a young piece for the future.

It would make a lot of sense for Cowan to pair with a guy like McKenna for the long haul. Trading away Cowan is potentially jeopardizing the future for the present.

This will be an offseason of change for Toronto. The front office is new. The head coach will be new.

Plenty of players are available, as evidenced by this Johnston report.

Cowan would be one of the most surprising to move. It doesn't make a lot of sense to move a talented youngster unless the return is incredible.

But if teams want to call on Cowan, the Leafs are apparently listening, which is notable for sure.
