The Toronto Maple Leafs are making a roster move on Wednesday that points to specific fates for three of their players by Friday's NHL trade deadline.

Bobby McMann, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Scott Laughton are all involved.

The report emerged from TSN's Darren Dreger that all three of that trio will be scratched from Toronto's game on Wednesday night in New Jersey against the Devils.

That's exactly the move you make when a trade is in the works. And while it's unlikely any of those guys will be traded in the same deal with another, they all have been in the rumors.

Now, it appears things must be close in at least a couple of the negotiations.

Regardless of how close, it signals how the Leafs view McMann, Laughton and Ekman-Larsson at this point. If they didn't want to trade them, they'd have no reason to healthy scratch any of them.

McMann is one of the most intriguing values of the deadline across the league. He has a minimal cap hit of just $1.35 million, and he's having a career-best offensive season.

Laughton is more of a bottom-six guy, but you can never have enough centers, and he does a lot of the little things well.

Ekman-Larsson is the most likely Maple Leafs defenseman to get traded, since there is seemingly no interest in Morgan Rielly.

McMann and Laughton have in common that they'll both be free agents after the season. OEL, on the other hand, has term remaining on his contract.

They'll all be sidelined Wednesday night, though, and it could point to a move coming soon.
