The Raiders signed Malcolm Koonce to a 1 year, 11 million extension this off-season which tied him to Las Vegs till the end of the 2025 season. Koonce, just 27 years old was coming off a torn ACL in 2024 that prevented him from recording a snap the entire season. In 2023, Koonce showed the expectations could be existent for him logging 52 pressures, 8 sacks, 9 TFL, and 7 QB hits. This season, Koonce has struggled at times especially early in the season logging just 17 pressure through the first 9 games and just one sack. Koonce, recovering from the torn ACL did show signs of improvement as a run defender with the highest run stop win rate, run double team rate, and run stop rate. Koonce was also holding a 15.2% pass rush win rate which sat just above league average.

In the last five weeks, Koonce has seemingly turned the corner into the 2023 version he was as he’s logged 14 pressures, 2 sacks, 7 QB Hits, and a 19.9% pass rush win rate which includes a week 17 performance where he logged 7 pressures, a sack, 3 hits, and a 28% win rate vs the Giants in a 34-10 loss for the Raiders. Koonce has been the subject of a lot of discussion this off-season with the Raiders likely looking to add more to their pass rush this off-season, and with Koonce being a free agent there’s a world this is his last season with the Raiders. Koonce’s projected market value sits at 2 years, 14 million for an AAV of 7 million which is perfectly acceptable to pay for a rotational pass rusher that in previous stints has shown the capability to be a highly productive starting caliber pass rusher. The Raiders have nearly 110 million in cap space and with a unit deeply lacking pass rush depth, retaining Koonce should be in the mix this off-season.
