JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Mainline Pharmacy shortstop Brody Roberts earned the Dr. Robert Hartnett Most Valuable Player Award in the Johnstown Collegiate Baseball League Thursday night.
The four franchise’s managers and coaches voted on the league’s major awards and an all-JCBL squad during a meeting at Bishop McCort Catholic High School.
The Hill Group pitcher Coy Martino and Martella’s Pharmacy hurler Mason Pfeil split the vote and shared the Pete Vuckovich Award as co-most valuable pitchers.
Mainline Pharmacy first baseman Colin Dinyar was named the Ken Horoho Award winner as the top rookie position player, and the regular-season champions also produced the Bill Jenkins Award winner in top rookie pitcher Ethan Porreca.
Martella’s Pharmacy slugger Steve Budash won the Denny Altimore batting title (30-for-71, 92 plate appearances, .423 batting average). Budash blasted a league-high five homers.
The Pitt-Johnstown program had a strong presence among the award winners, with Roberts, Pfeil and Porreca all on the Mountain Cats roster, and Dinyar, an all-state player at Conemaugh Township Area High School, a Mountain Cat recruit.
Martino plays at Mount Aloysius College, and Budash is part of the Slippery Rock University program.
MVP Roberts helped Mainline Pharmacy to a 25-4 record, one game ahead of runner-up Martella’s Pharmacy during the regular season.
In the leadoff spot, Roberts batted .359, with 27 runs, 15 RBIs and 28 stolen bases. He only struck out four times in 109 plate appearances. Roberts was the 2025 AAABA Tournament MVP.
Mainline Pharmacy begins the best-of-5 semifinal playoffs Friday against fourth-seeded The O at Forest Hills Junior-Senior High School.
Manager Chance Osborne’s team already has secured a spot in the 81st All American Amateur Baseball Association Tournament, where it will defend its championship.
The shared Vuckovich Award featured two mound workhorses.
The Hill Group’s Martino posted a league-high six wins (6-0) with three complete games. He struck out a league-high 54 batters (19 looking) and had a 1.77 ERA in 312/3 innings.
Martella’s Pfeil went 5-0 with a 1.70 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 242/3 innings. Opponents totaled a .169 batting average against him.
Martella’s Pharmacy and The Hill Group begin their semifinal series Friday at Roxbury Park.
Mainline Pharmacy rookie hurler Porreca was 4-1 with 37 strikeouts and a 1.80 ERA in 231/3 innings. Opponents batted .068 against the left-hander.
Mainline Pharmacy’s Dinyar batted .346 (28-for-81, 93 plate appearances) in 27 games. He hit three home runs, scored 20 runs and drove in 19.
