Luna, Ochoa, Cox selected for Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor

Three longtime Coastal Bend coaching figures will be recognized for their contributions when they are inducted into the 2027 Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor next year.

Former Bishop girls basketball coach Sherry Luna, former San Diego football coach Bo Ochoa and former Refugio football coach Drew Cox are scheduled to be honored during the association's Hall of Honor ceremony in January 2027.

Luna, who retired during the offseason, led the Badgers to 20 playoff appearances and guided the program to 12 district championships, six regional tournament appearances and three state tournaments.

Luna was also a two-time Caller-Times All-South Texas Coach of the Year (2020, 2022).

Ochoa spent more than two decades with San Diego ISD and served as the Vaqueros' head football coach and athletic director for 17 seasons. During his tenure, Ochoa led San Diego to more than 100 wins with multiple playoff appearances and district championships.

Cox took over the program prior to the 2024 season, replacing legendary head coach Jason Herring, who guided Refugio to five state championships and established the Bobcats as a state powerhouse. Cox went 24-3 in two seasons as head coach, including a run to the UIL Class 2A Division I state semifinals this past fall.
