The annual release of Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine gives an early look at the Coastal Bend teams expected to play for district championships in 2026.

This season also marks the first season under the 2026-28 realignment cycle, bringing several changes to the area.

Among the biggest changes is Sinton moving to Class 3A after advancing to the Class 4A Division II state semifinals last season and London moving up to Class 4A for the first time in program history.

Multiple high school football powers are projected to win district titles in Refugio, Sinton, Calallen and Gregory-Portland.

Other area programs such as Rockport-Fulton, Bishop, Veterans Memorial and Flour Bluff also enter the season with high expectations according to the magazine.

The 2026 season also will begin with a flurry of new coaches on the sidelines across the Coastal Bend.

In TAPPS, a new era begins at IWA under former Ray coach Craig Charleton, who takes over the program after a brief retirement. Annapolis Christian Academy appears poised for another strong campaign behind a talented young core and John Paul II aims to contend for a playoff berth under returning coach Roland Ramirez.

The Coastal Bend also begins the season with six UIL teams ranked in Dave Campbell's Texas Football preseason state polls.
