BATON ROUGE – LSU football quarterback Sam Leavitt spoke publicly for the first time since transferring over the offseason.

At LSU's annual women's football clinic called The Huddle which took place inside the team's indoor practice facility July 30, Leavitt was asked why he chose LSU over plenty of other suitors out of the transfer portal when he deciding to leave Arizona State.

"Just looking back at my process, I think leaving ASU, I had a comfortable situation," he told those in attendance. "Walk in the building, I saw my guys, built great relationships, you know, won a lot of games there. But I wanted to do something a little bit different. It's funny, that's kind of what everyone is saying around here, it's just different. It really is in every aspect."

Leavitt's time in Baton Rouge so far has been a bit shrouded in mystery as he missed basically all of spring practice back in March and April due to recovering from foot surgery he had after going down with a Lisfranc injury late into the 2025 season with the Sun Devils.
