LSU football gets its turn at SEC Media Days on Thursday with head coach Lane Kiffin being joined by Trey'Dez Green, Whit Weeks, and TJ Dottery. LSU QB Sam Leavitt was not there -- Leavitt remained in Baton Rouge, practicing with the team.

Leavitt, who transferred to LSU from Arizona State, was the top-ranked QB in the transfer portal. He led Arizona State to a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024 and brings 20 career starts to Baton Rouge. Leavitt's 2025 was cut short with a foot injury, and his recovery has been a major topic of discussion throughout the offseason.

On Thursday, Kiffin provided an update on Leavitt ahead of the 2026 season.

"Sam's done great. You know, elite competitor, we knew that coming in, but to see it firsthand how he's attacked his rehab, and going back from his injury, and learning the playbook, and gaining respect from his players," Kiffin said.

#LSU HC Lane Kiffin reiterated that Sam Leavitt is ready to roll for the 2026 season and is back in Baton Rouge running a player-led workout today.

Kiffin said he has "great confidence" in Leavitt's health. That's good news for the LSU offense. The Tigers struggled to score points in 2025 and a top priority when LSU hired Kiffin was getting that unit back on track. That starts with Leavitt this fall.
