LSU baseball picked up an outfielder in the transfer portal on Sunday. Jason Wachs committed to the Tigers after spending two years with Tulane.

The center fielder brings immediate help in the batting order and on defense. Wachs earned an All-American Conference first-team selection for his performance in 2026. Among conference players in the regular season, his 21 doubles ranked first and his 54 RBI ranked third.

Wachs was one of three Green Wave players to start all 56 games in 2026. He led the team with a .327 batting average, .453 on-base percentage, 574 slugging percentage, 1.027 OPS, 66 hits, 54 RBI, 48 runs and nine home runs.

Through two seasons with Tulane, Wachs made just three errors. He brings much-needed experience to center field and the batting order, especially considering the expected departure of Derek Curiel for the MLB Draft. He can bat leadoff

Head coach Jay Johnson saw Wachs play when LSU and Tulane played in May. Wachs went three for five, including a double and a home run, with three RBI and a run scored.
