Mar. 13—ST. PAUL — Lourdes had a winning end to its state girls basketball tournament, routing No. 6 seed Minnehaha Academy 71-40 in the fifth-place game at Concordia St. Paul University's Gangelhoff Center.
The Eagles, who finished their season 26-7 overall, got a big game from their "big three" — senior Lauren Hust, junior Aaliyah Williams and eighth-grader Amelia Truty. Those three combined for 59 points.
Truty led all scorers with 25 points. She was 8-for-11 from the field overall and a sizzling 5-for-8 on 3-point tries. Williams had 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting (4-for-5 on 3's) and Hust had 14 points. She was 6-for-15 from the field.
Lourdes shot 55% as a team, far outdoing Minnehaha's 35%.
The Eagles were also excellent defensively, forcing 20 Minnehaha turnovers. Williams finished with a whopping six steals. Truty had three.
Besides her 14 points, Hust had a team-high nine rebounds.
