With the release of the College Football 27 video game, fans can get a glimpse at how the national gaming landscape views the 2026 Louisiana roster.
From dual-threat quarterback Lunch Winfield to the lockdown defending in the secondary from cornerback Brent Gordon Jr., the Cajuns are well-represented in Electronic Arts’ latest annual installment.
As fans and players alike spend the summer on the game waiting for the real thing to come later this fall, it's always fun to see which UL players are considered the best by the video game world. Here's a look at some of the Cajuns’ highest-rated players in College Football 27:
After just a season of college ball under his belt, Gordon is the highest-rated Sun Belt Conference player, according to the game, at an 88 overall out of 99. He has an impressive 93 rating in injury, a rating that determines a player's likelihood of avoiding injury during a game. Gordon was given a 92 rating in agility, a 91 in change of direction and an 89 rating in speed.
As a freshman, Gordon earned his first start in 2025 when the Cajuns traveled to Missouri on Sept. 13. From then, the 5-foot-11 and 200-pounder was a staple in the secondary going on to finish with a team-high 11 pass breakups. He racked up the third-most total tackles on the team (62) along with a forced fumble and a quarterback hurry.
Securing the next highest rating in the game is Sampson at an 82 overall rating. After transferring from LSU, Sampson was a huge grab from the transfer portal for the Cajuns and would go on to lead their speedy pack of pass catchers.
Sampson’s highest rating is speed at 91, making him the fastest Cajun in the game followed by running back Darrell Smith at 90. The junior wide receiver was given an 89 in agility, an 87 in change of direction and an 86 in injury.
The Cajuns’ passing game had a shaky start to the 2025 season before a rhythm was found, and Sampson was key in finding it. At 6-4, 206, Sampson brought size and speed to the wide receiver position. He finished this past season with a team-high 537 yards receiving and six touchdowns on 32 catches.
While players like Gordon and Sampson may be pleased with their overall ratings, other UL players may feel a bit snubbed with their in-game ratings. Two of those players might be Lunch Winfield on offense and Jake St. Andre on defense.
Winfield was given a 74 overall rating, despite a breakout year at the helm of the Cajuns’ offense in 2025. His highest offensive rating was in injury at 87 after appearing in 12 games and proving to be the most durable quarterback for UL that year. Winfield was given an 86 rating in agility, an 85 in change of direction and an 83 in speed. Dragging his overall rating down are strength and awareness, with ratings of 72 and 77, respectively.
Andre is rated 67 overall, despite playing a key role on the Cajuns defense in 2025 when he finished with the sixth-most total tackles on the team (50). Listed at 6-0, 220, the senior linebacker’s highest defensive ratings were in speed and injury at 80 and 87, respectively. Andre’s lowest rating was in strength at 72 followed by change of direction at 74.
