Louisiana baseball is kicking off its road trip with a midweek showdown against a familiar in-state foe.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (9-12, 1-2 SBC) are traveling to Hammond for a rematch versus Southeastern Louisana before continuing on the road later in the week for Sun Belt Conference play.
The last time the Cajuns and Lions (16-3, 6-0 SLC) were earlier in the season in a mini slugfest that ended with a 9-7 victory for the Cajuns. Junior outfielder Caleb Stelly was the hero of that game, making every one of his plate appearances count. He led his team with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs.
Tate Hess earned the win on the mound, but according to head coach Matt Deggs, this time, a handful of other guys could get the start. With the pitching staff injured and the Cajuns still figuring out all their weapons, Deggs and his staff will likely try out a couple of pitchers against SLU. No matter who’s on the mound, the Cajuns will be looking to build off their momteumn after beating No. 25 Troy 18-14 this past Sunday.
