During the 2026 college baseball season, there was a lot for Longhorns fans to celebrate. One player who provided fans with countless unforgettable moments was Anthony Pack Jr. The California native was the best freshman in the nation and a hits machines every time he stepped to the plate. Due to his play expectations during the 2027 campaign will be higher than ever.

In his first season on the Forty Acres, Pack posted a .355 batting average and drove in 56 runs. He also made pitchers pay for their mistakes with 28 extra-base hits including 12 home runs. His ability to make an impact regardless of who was on the mound, made Pack an irreplaceable piece of the lineup.

While Texas was unable to win a national title, Pack finished the season with some new hardware. The Milan High alumni was named the 2026 SEC Freshman of the Year. His accolades don't stop there as Pack also named an All American and earned a spot on the Perfect Game Freshman All-America. Those awards show why he is one of the best players in his class. When the Longhorns return to action, Pack will again be one of their most important players. The lineup next season will be without Carson Tinney and Aiden Robbins who are expected to hear their names called in the MLB Draft. While those are not easy players to replace another full season of Pack should help soften the blow.

Although it is hard for Pack to be much better, he now has one year of SEC experience under his belt. He showed this past season that he could hold his own in one of the best conferences in the nation. That should continue next year as he tries to bring a national title to Austin.

Even though fans will have to wait a few months to see Pack back in action, it will be worth the anticipation.
