Fueled by another 200-yard rushing output from Ethan Thayer and more playmakers stepping up on defense, Onalaska coasted by Rainier 52-0 on Friday night at home to kick off C2BL East action.

Penalties — seven down to two this week — was a positive step for head coach Mazen Saade. The other was being able to finish halves. The Loggers (3-1, 1-0 C2BL East) upped their halftime lead from 22-0 to 38-0 in the span of a quarter.

Thayer had a 6-yard plunge and Morgan Allen returned a 54-yard interception for six. Brody Tirana had the other two interceptions Rainier (0-4, 0-1) tossed, including his own pick-six. Saade also mentioned Haze Hamrick as vital to the success of Onalaska's secondary.

"Defensively played really well; kids executed the game plan really well," Saade said. "When you have teams against the rope, you give them no hope. This week we talked about stacking good days and we stacked some good days."

Carson Albertson and Thayer combined for five touchdowns for Onalaska, who will take on Morton-White Pass next week in Randall. For Rainier, Dorien Cano paced the offense with 15 carries for 58 yards.

The Mountaineers will look for their first win of the season against Columbia White Salmon next week.
