SAEGERTOWN — The Panthers scored double digits in all four quarters on their way to a non-region win on Wednesday. Saegertown beat Seneca 69-39 in boys basketball.

Saegertown had the top two scorers in the game. Jackson Scott had 21 points, scoring nine baskets and going a perfect 3-3 from the line. Luke Young was second with 19 points. Young also added nine baskets in the win.

The Panthers advanced to 9-2 overall on the year. Saegertown is off until Friday when they host Commodore Perry in a Region 2 game.

Cochranton wins big in Region 2

JAMESTOWN — The Cochranton boys basketball team took down Jamestown 62-33 in Region 2 action on Wednesday.

C.J. Shorts exploded to score 20 points for the Cardinals. Shorts had an even spilt of four field goals and four 3-point baskets. Brady Rynd put up 12 for Cochranton off six field goals.

The Cardinals move to .500 across the board, 5-5 overall and 2-2 in region play. Cochranton faces another Region 2 test on Friday, taking on Cambridge Springs on the road.

Tigers drop road game

UNION CITY — Maplewood fell in a non-region game to Union City 56-49 on Wednesday.

Chase Koelle led the Tigers with 16 points. Kyle Jordan was one behind with 15 and Liam McCarl added 11.

Maplewood dropped to 4-9 overall. The Tigers take on rival Saegertown on Tuesday.

Cambridge Springs wins two in a row

TIDIOUTE — The Cambridge Springs girls basketball team ran away with a 51-10 win over Tidioute Charter on Wednesday. The game was apart of a home-and-home series where the Blue Devils won both games.

Kayla Crawford scored 23 points in the win, she scored a team leading 11 baskets. Kylie Hayes followed with 11 points and Ashley Brezinski had nine.

Cambridge Springs moved to 2-10 overall. The Blue Devils play tonight at 7 p.m. at home against Region 2 foe Maplewood.

Crawford Christian comes from behind to win

Crawford Christian Academy came from behind to take down Bethel Christian School in boys basketball on Tuesday. The Chargers were down one point at half and three going into the fourth quarter.

Silas Raber, Jacob Louer and Kyle Steiger led the offense attack with 13 points. Matthew Briggs followed with nine points in the win.

Panthers drop close dual

GREENVILLE — The Saegertown wrestling team lost a Region 2 dual 37-31 at Greenville on Wednesday.

Greenville picked up one more win than the Panthers, which was the deciding factor.

Saegertown got wins from Caleb Goodwill (107), Mason Groner (114), Nathaniel Eckhart (121), Isaac Huya (127), Milan Harrison (133) and Glenn Sample (215). Huya and Sample won via pin while Harrison and Goodwill used tech falls to earn their victories.

Saegertown fell to 4-1 in region matches and 6-4 overall. The Panthers will wrestle at the Brookfield Duals on Saturday.

Cardinals win at home

COCHRANTON — Cochranton defeated Franklin 47-24 in a Region 2 dual at The Bird Cage on Wednesday.

The Cardinals took two bouts by forfeit. Garrett Irwin (152), Abraham Ly (127), Cole Schmitt (133) and Austin Boozer (139) pinned their opponents. Brayden Williams picked up a tech fall victory while Bryce Hart and Emmitt Summerlin won decisions.

Cochranton is 2-3 in the region and will host Maplewood on Wednesday.
