BISMARCK — The first battle between the Salt Fork and Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin baseball teams was a non-conference matchup on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils would make quick work of this first battle with a 17-2 win over the Storm.

Chaz Dubois had three hits and five RBIs for BHRA, while Micah Stanford had two hits and two RBIs, Anderson Thomas had two RBIs, Cruz Dubois had three hits and an RBI and Caden Keleminic, Landen Packard and Jaxon Spicer each had one RBI. Thomas had five strikeouts on the mound through three innings for the win.

BHRA was coming off a 4-1 win over Prairie Central on Tuesday. On the mound, Liam Parish had six strikeouts and gave up on three hits for the Blue Devils, while Stanford and Keleminic each had two hits and one RBI.

Pedro Rangel IV had the lone hit and RBI for the Storm, who was coming off a 13-0 win over Villa Grove on Tuesday.

Pedro Rangel V had three hits and five RBIs for the Storm, while Zayden Bromley had two hits and two RBIs, Jameson Remole had two hits and an RBI, Braxton Clem had three hits and Eli Wear, Peyton Hageman and Chase Ferber each had one RBI.

Remole pitched four innings and struck out three, while Pedro Rangel IV struck out all three batters in the fifth.

Both teams will meet again on May 9 for the regular season and Vermilion Valley Conference finale.

Oakwood 11, Paris 8

PARIS — The Comets scored three runs in the top of the ninth to get win over the Tigers.

Xander Wilson and Chase Harrison each had two hits and an RBI for Oakwood, while Brandt Hobick, Carsen Dudley, Jackson Dudley, Loudyn Hughes, Riglee Hart and Alex Wallace each added one RBI and Weston Frazier had two hits.

The Comets were coming off two 15-0 wins in a row. After beating Schlarman Academy 15-0 on Monday, Oakwood followed that up with a 15-0 win over North Vermillion.

Jackson Dudley got the win on the mound for Oakwood with five strikeouts, while Wallace had two hits and two RBIs, Hart had two RBIs and Hobick, Brody Marcinko and Wilson each had one RBI.

Aden Rangel and Randall Jeffers each had a hit for the Falcons.

St. Joe-Ogden 7, Westville 0

ST. JOSEPH — The Tigers lost their second game of the season on the road against the Spartans.

Matt Darling, Ben Johnson, Easton Bolin and Cameron Steinbaugh each got a hit against St. Joseph-Ogden starter Asher Pruemer, who had 12 strikeouts.

Westville will try to regroup at home on Friday against Salt Fork.

Peoria Notre Dame 10, Danville 0

PEORIA — Brody Boyd had the only hit as the Vikings lost in six innings to the Irish.

Alex McQuown had three strikeouts on the mound for Danville, who will travel to Normal West on Friday.

GRFC 10, Schlarman 4

GEORGETOWN — The Buffaloes jumped out to the lead and was able to beat the Hilltoppers.

Landon Heck had three hits and two RBIs for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, while Ryley Heck had three hits and an RBI, Jase Latoz had two RBIs and Jackson Pratt had three RBIs. Latos had three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings to get the win.

Miles Crosby had three hits and an RBI for Schlarman Academy, while Liam Billings had three hits and Marc Villaester and Grayson Kruger each had one RBI.

A-P 6, PBL 5

POTOMAC — A wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh capped off a three-run comeback for Armstrong-Potomac in a 6-5 win over Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Tuesday.

Bowen Hesterberg had two RBIs for the Trojans, while Ryan Edwards, Carter Freeman and Rhys Showalter each had one RBI.

A-P will host Iroquois West on Friday.

Covington 5, Fountain Central 4

COVINGTON, Ind. — An error in the bottom of the seventh was the key as the Covington baseball team beat Fountain Central 5-4.

Carson Schaeffer had two hits and three RBIs for the Trojans, while Kyler Zarn had two hits and an RBI and Nash Martin had two hits. Kyven Hill had 12 strikeouts and only gave up two hits on the mound for the win.

Asher Davis and Uriah Wildman each had an RBI for the Mustangs.

PREP SOFTBALL

Danville 21, Peoria 0

TILTON — The Vikings scored 13 runs in the first inning and went on to a four-inning win over the Lions.

Kendall Rannebarger and Peyton Beith each had two hits and three RBIs for Danville, while Gracie Briggs had two hits and two RBIs, Eliana Young, TaeAna Boyd and Kajeemah Williams each had two RBIs, winning pitcher Deana Linares had two hits and an RBI and Ava Foster, Olivia Scaggs, Gabby Crider and Ana Hernandez each had one RBI.

Linares had eight strikeouts and gave up one run for the Vikings, who will face Normal Community today.

Salt Fork 9, BHRA 7

BISMARCK — Morgan Russell had two hits and two RBIs and got the win on the mound as the Storm beat the Blue Devils.

Ava Ringstrom had three hits for Salt Fork, while Sailor Pacot had two RBIs, Lainey Ehler had three hits and one RBI, Bella Kurtenbach had two hits and an RBI and Alexa Jamison and Brilynn Barnett each had one RBI.

Elli Tittle had three hits and three RBIs for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, while Emma Shelato, Ava Acton and Eva Ronto each had two hits and an RBI, Gentry Elson had an RBI and Ella Acton had three hits.

Westville 12, Normal West 5

WESTVILLE — The Tigers had 13 hits as they defeated the Wildcats at home.

Madison Jones had two hits with a home run and five RBIs for Westville, while Taylor Valangeon and Daylin Zaayer each had two hits, a home run and two RBIs, Layla Atwood and Lani Gondzur each had two hits and an RBI, Jazmyn Bennett had one RBI and Lilly Kiesel had two hits. Valangeon had six strikeouts in three innings to get the win.

The Tigers were coming off a 7-3 win over BHRA on Tuesday. Laney Cook had a home run and two RBIs for the Tigers, while Valangeon had three hits and two RBIs, Atwood had two hits and RBIs, winning pitcher Kiesel had two hits and an RBI and Gondzur had two hits.

Tittle had three hits and two RBIs for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, while Draycee Nelson had three hits and Shelato had one RBI.

Oakwood/Schlarman 8, N. Vermillion 3

OAKWOOD — The Oakwood/Schlarman Academy softball team was in a bit of a bind early on against North Vermillion on Tuesday.

The Comets saw themselves down 3-1 after the Falcons scored their runs in the top of the fifth. But in the bottom of the inning, Oakwood/Schlarman scored five of its own and added two more in the sixth for a 8-3 win.

Irene Rangel had 10 strikeouts on the mound for the Comets and had three hits with a solo home run. Emberlyn Schull had two hits and two RBIs, while Grace Hanner, Bella Bradford and Sam Dunavan each had one RBI.

Willow Campbell, Olivia Phelps and Cami Phillips each had an RBI for North Vermillion.

Paris 15, Hoopeston Area 4

HOOPESTON — The Hoopeston Area softball team could not keep with Paris on Tuesday in a 15-4 loss.

Addyson Kelnhofer had three doubles and two RBIs for the Cornjerkers, while Macy Warner had two hits with an triple and an RBI and Maddie Barnes had seven strikeouts on the mound.

Covington 6, Fountain Central 1

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Covington softball team jumped to the lead early and went on to a 6-1 over Fountain Central on Tuesday.

Haley Holycross had two RBIs for the Trojans, who scored three runs in the first and two in the second to take control, while Caydence Peaslee and Lilly Pigg each had an RBI and Alex Sutherlin, Preslee Shaw and Landrie Sutton each had two hits.

Mallory Massey had two hits for the Mustangs, while Jacquelynn Weber had the lone RBI.

Both teams will play each other again today.

Seeger 31, Frontier 18

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — Down 13-12 going into the bottom of the fourth, the Seeger softball team needed a big inning against Frontier.

The Patriots got that big inning and then some, scoring 19 runs as they would win over the Falcons 31-18 in five innings.

Kaylyn Wheeler had six hits with a home run and six RBIs for Seeger, while Aubrey Spear had three hits and five RBIs, Ema Ross had two hits and five RBIs, Autumn Pickett had two hits and four RBIs, Vivienne Middleton had three hits with a home run and two RBIs, Gwyn Henk had two RBIs, Lyla Badger had three hits and an RBI and Haylei Walker and Marli Sluder each had two hits and an RBI.

PREP BOYS GOLF

N. Montgomery 167, Covington 182

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The Covington boys team scored 182 on Tuesday, but could not get past North Montgomery's 167 at Rocky Ridge Golf Course.

Luke Holycross had a 43 to lead the Trojans, while Andrew Wright had a 45, Austin Stein and Jaxon Keller each had a 47 and Urban Roarks carded a 49.

North Montgomery's Neil Jeffery won medalist honors with a 40.

PREP GIRLS TENNIS

Fountain Central 5, Seeger 0

WEST LEBANON, Ind. — The Fountain Central girls tennis team wrapped up the Wabash River Conference team title on Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Seeger.

Alydia Mellady, Elise Webb and Laney Hoagland won in singles for the Mustangs, while the doubles teams of Lilly Peterson and Hannah Prickett and Savannah Bowers and Josie Harshbarger also won.

The Mustangs are 9-1 and 5-0 in the WRC after beating Southmont 5-0 on Wednesday.

PREP TRACK

Westville hosts invite

WESTVILLE — The Westville track teams hosted seven other teams on Monday as part of the Tiger Invitational.

One team took advantage of that hospitality as Paris won both the boys and girls team titles.

In the boys meet, Oakwood had 161 points — only two points behind Paris. Jacob Rupp won the 400 meter dash (53.33 seconds) for the Comets, while THomas Wells won the 800 (2:05.94), Kyler Johnson won the shot put (13.94 meters), the 1,600 relay team of Lucas Tyas, Jaethan Perez, Macen Phillips and Rupp won in 3:41, while the 3,200 team of Tyas, Rupp, Phillips and Wells won in 9:17.

Westville was third with Ja'Den Whorral winning the 100 (11.71) and 200 (23.17) , the 400 relay team of Landon Coon, Lincoln Cravens, Easton Bolin and Whorral won in 44.56 and the 800 team of Coon, Cravens, Bolin and Whorral won in 1:33.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman took fourth with James Cody winning the 110 (15.88) and 300 (42.59) hurdles and North Vermillion took fifth with Lane Thomann getting the highest finish in second at discus (35.54).

In the girls meet, North Vermillion was third as Riley Smith won the 800 (2:41), while Westville was fourth with Lainey Wichtowski taking the discus (28.70m), Oakwood was fifth with Aubri Elliott taking second in the 200 (27.74) and GRFC was eighth with Leah Phipps winning the 1,600 (6:12) and 3,200 (13:53).

Salt Fork competes in Tuscola

TUSCOLA — The Salt Fork track teams participated in the Tuscola Open on Monday.

The boys team was tied for third on the strength of Maddax Stine. The junior wo the shot put (16.34 meters) and discus (51.36m) in personal best times. Blake Trimmell was third in the discus (43.81m) and the 1,600 relay team of Ezra Reffett, Owen Frischkorn, Ian church and Xander Swanson was third at 3:36.

The Storm girls ended up sixth with the 400 relay team of Maya Smith, Taylor Remole, Ella Cary and Brycie Hird winning in 51.77. The same combo was second in the 800 relay (1:49.05), while the 1,600 relay team of Smith, Bracie Hird, Brycie Hird and Annalise Chambliss took third in 4:21.39. Bracie Hird was third in the 800 (2:34) and Callie Richardson was fourth in the 1,600 (5:27).

Seeger, Fountain Central hit Crawfordsville

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The Seeger and Fountain Central track teams traveled to Crawfordsville to take on the host and North Montgomery.

Both Patriot teams took third in the meet. In the boys meet, Landon Dispennett won the 100 (10.91 seconds), 200 (23.15) and 400 (52.09) for Seeger, while John Puterbaugh won the 800 (2:11), Nathan Odle won the 1,600 (4:54) and Isaiah Max won the discus (133 feet). The 1,600 team of Nicholas Wallpe, Parker Bryant, Puterbaugh and Dispennett won in 3:41.

Maraia Frasch won the 800 (2:37) and 1,600 (5:45) in the girls meet, while Adara Austin won the 3,200 (12:35) and the 3,200 team of Caleigh Purcell, Emily Greene, Austin and Frasch won in 10:40.

The Mustang teams finished in fourth. In the boys meet, Dallas Hoagland had the highest finish at shot put at 39-11 to take third. In the girls meet, Brailey Hoagland won the 100 (12.50), 400 (1:01) and long jump (17-2).

PREP BOYS TRACK

Oakwood, A-P competes at GCMS

GIBSON CITY — The Oakwood and Armstrong-Potomac boys track teams went up to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley for the Falcon Invitational on Tuesday.

The Comets were sixth as a team with Nathan Young winning the high jump (1.88 meters) and Sailer Harrison winning the triple jump (12.30m). Lucas Tyas was second in the 400 (52.07) and Trevor McCall was third in the 300 hurdles (44.29).

The Trojans was seventh with Samuel Lanter winning the 3,200 (11:52) while Nathaniel Burd was fourth in the 100 (22.57) and 200 (23.83).

PREP GIRLS TRACK

Danville second in Unity meet

TOLONO — The Danville girls track team was able to end up in a tie for second at the Unity girls meet on Tuesday.

Jamia Esther won the 200 meter dash (26 seconds) for the Vikings, while Samantha Brown won the pole vault (3.56 meters) and Gabi Huerta won the high jump (1.52m).

Ja'Lorrian Stewart was second in the shot put (10.32m) and discus (27.67m), while Alisa Thomas was second in the 100 hurdles (19.36) and triple jump (10.19m). Brown was second in the 100 (12.76), Da'Sani Lewis was second in the 200 (27.50) and Jhe'Nyi Parker was third in the 100 (12.80).

The 400 relay team of Esther, Parker, Brown and Ashanti Conaway won in 48.40, while the 800 relay team of Zhazhanault Whitehead, Presence Reed, Huerta and Paris Martin was second in 1:54.

MEN'S COLLEGE GOLF

Arnold makes NJCAA tourney

SPRINGFIELD — Sophomore Blake Arnold will represent the Danville Area Community College Jaguars at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament after finishing fourth in the Central District Tournament at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield.

Arnold, who was also a member of last year's DACC team that qualified for Nationals, had rounds of 75-71-75 to finish with a three-round score of 5-over 221. Heartland's Tommy Gneiser won the District title with a 2-under 214, while teammate Gabriele Bravin was second at 1-under 215.

The Jaguars finished fourth as a team with a three-day score of 68-over 932. Heartland won the title with a 26-over 890 with Parkland taking second at 34-over 898 and Illinois Central got the final team qualifying spot with a score of 50-over 914.

DACC freshman Connor Campbell, who shot a 19-over 235 over the three rounds, missed a playoff for the final qualifying spot by one shot.

Other scores for the Jaguars included Konnor Craven at 21-over 237, Josh Matthew at 27-over 243 and Clayton Benkert 37-over 253.

The NJCAA Division II National Tournament will be May 19-22 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.
