CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Danville native Erin Houpt is going from one coast to another.
Houpt has made the move from San Diego State to Boston College as it was announced on Boston College's website.
Houpt spend two years at San Diego State and played last season, averaging 4.8 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from the 3-point line. The Aztecs was 25-10 and won the Mountain West Tournament.
She started her career with two seasons at Mercer, averaging 10.8 points per game and was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year in the 2021-22 season.
The Eagles were 16-18 last season and went to the WBIT Tournament.
PREP SOFTBALL
DACC splits with Parkland
CHAMPAIGN — To end the regular season, the Danville Area Community College softball team took on rival Parkland College for a doubleheader on Sunday.
The Jaguars won the first game, 7-4, but lost the second 4-1.
In the first game, Marlin Gonski had two hits with two RBIs for DACC, while Gloria Richardson had two RBIs, Kennedy Highley had two hits and an RBI, Kaylee Kline had and RBI and Pailei Cripe and Chloe Hunt each had two hits.
The Jaguars actually out-hit the Cobras 9-8 in the second game, but only scored a run in the top of the seventh. Gonski had three hits and an RBI, while Highley and Kait Drew each had two hits.
The Jaguars end the regular season at 32-11 and will await pairings for the Region 24 Tournament.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
DACC splits with Lincoln Land
DANVILLE — The Jaguars took two out of four games this weekend with the Loggers.
On Saturday, Danville Area Community College won the first game 5-2 as Ethan Durbin had three hits and two RBIs, Alex Fernandez had two RBIs, Zach Russell had two hits and Garrett Fultz added one RBI. Eric Fields had seven strikeouts on the mound. Adam Price and Isaac Murray each had an RBI in the second game as Jaguars lost 5-2.
DACC won the first game of Sunday's doubleheader 11-9 as Fernandez had three hits and two RBIs, Price had two hits and three RBIs, Russell had two hits and two RBIs, Murray had two RBIs and Braxton Waller and Cooper Hannagan each had one RBI.
The Jaguars lost the second game 14-11 as Waller had two hits with a home run and four RBIs, Tuff Elson had a home run and three RBIs, Chris Lewis had two hits with a solo home run and Durbin had an RBI.
The Jaguars return to action against Vincennes University on Friday.
COLLEGE GOLF
DACC fourth at regional
SPRINGFIELD — After the first two rounds of the Region 24 Tournament, the Jaguars are fourth overall.
Blake Arnold is third for Danville Area Community College with a score of 146, while Konnor Craven is tied for 10th (155), Connor Campbell was tied for 14th (156) and Josh Matthew is tied for 20th (159).
The Jaguars will wrap up tournament play today.
Illinois takes second at Big Ten
BALTIMORE — The Illini could not hold on to its lead as UCLA came from behind to win the Big Ten Championship by one stroke.
Freshman Jake Birdwell led Illinois with a 54-hole total of 207 (-3) to finish tied for third and earn a spot on the All-Big Ten Championship team. Junior Ryan Voois also recorded a top-10, shooting a team-low 70 on the day to finish with an even-par 210.
Behind Birdwell and Voois, sophomore Max Herendeen tied for 19th with a three-round total of 214 (+4), senior Jackson Buchanan posted a 219 (+9) to tie for 42nd, and freshman Trey Marrion tied for 58th with a 12-over 222.
PREP BASEBALL
Peoria Notre Dame 25, Danville 0
DANVILLE — The Vikings committed four errors as they were defeated by the Irish in three innings.
Brody Boyd took the loss on the mound for Danville.
Oakwood 15, Schlarman 0
OAKWOOD — The Comets had eight hits as they beat the Hilltoppers in four innings.
Brandt Hobick had two hits and two RBIs for Oakwood, while Xander Wilson had two hits and an RBI, Carsen Dudley, Chase Harrison and Brody Marcinko each had two RBIs and Grady Johnson, Alex Wallace, Cooper Hutson and Weston Frazier each had one RBI. Harrison had four strikeouts on the mound in two innings for the win.
Peyton Kummerle and Grayson Kruger each had a hit for Schlarman Academy, while Miles Crosby took the loss.

POTOMAC — The Trojans scored four runs in the first and did not look back in a win over the Buffaloes.
Davyn Franzen and Becket Moran each had two RBIs for Armstrong-Potomac, while Ryan Edwards had two hits and Carter Freeman, Cole Bailey and Braxton Self each had one RBI. Edwards had seven strikeouts in six innings to get the win.
Jase Latoz had two hits for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, while Hunter Meeker had one RBI.
The Buffaloes were coming off a 4-2 win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on Saturday. Peyton Miles had three hits and three RBIs while Ryley Heck had a solo home run.

CISSNA PARK — Pedro Rangel V had three hits with four RBIs as the Storm won in four innings.
Fletcher Clem had three RBIs for Salt FOrk, while Brayden Norton, Jameson Remole and Braxton Clem each had two RBIs and Pedro Rangel iV, Peyton Hageman, Eli Wear and Jordan Hageman each had one RBI.
Pedro Rangel V had four strikeouts on the mound to get the win.

GILMAN — The Blue Devils took the lead early and went on to a win on the road against the Raiders.
Jaxon Spicer and Jadyn Peters each had two RBIs for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin with Spicer hitting a home run. Cruz Dubois had four hits and an RBI, while Micah Stanford had two hits and a RBI and Chaz Dubois had an RBI.

MILFORD — On the strength of a four-run fourth inning, the Tigers were able to get past the Bearcats.
Matthew Darling had three hits with two RBIs, while Alec Davis had a home run and two RBIs and Ben Johnson had two hits and an RBI. Easton Barney had four strikeouts on the mound.

WATSEKA — The Cornjerkers' final threat in the bottom of the 11th was stopped in a lost to the Warriors.
Cole Miller had two hits and an RBI for Hoopeston Area, while Dallas Sheppard had two hits and Dylan Judy had five strikeouts in six innings in the loss.

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Trojans had nine hits, but could not keep up with the Warriors.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. — The Mustangs did not have enough power to hang with Benton Central and lost in five innings.

The Mustangs were coming off a sweep of North Vermillion on Saturday. in The first game, Nolan Acton had an RBI as Fountain Central won 2-1 even though they had no hits against North Vermillion's Quintin Holt, who had three strikeouts. David Jeffers had an RBI for the Falcons.

The Vikings are 7-8 and will host Peoria today.

CATLIN — Morgan Russell had three hits and three RBIs as the Storm beat the Comets.
Brilynn Barnett had one RBI for Salt Fork, while Karli McGee had eight strikeouts to get the win.
Gracie Hanner and Lainee Smith each had one RBI for Oakwood/Schlarman Academy while Caydence Vermillion had five strikeouts in four innings.

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The Trojans scored the first four runs of the game, but the Mounties scored all the rest in a five-inning win.

CAYUGA, Ind. — The Falcons won the first game of Saturday's doubleheader 10-6 as Addie Burns had three hits with a home run and two RBIs, Kiara Waddell had two hits and two RBIs and Marki Chambliss had one RBI.
Keylee Stonebreaker had two RBIs for the Mustangs, while Olivia Jones and Lillian Bennett each had one RBI and Kyra Kyger and Kailey Daughtery each had two hits.

FRANKFORT, Ind. — The Mustangs hit the road on Saturday to take part in the Frankfort Hot Dog Invitational.
In the girls meet, Brailey Hoagland won the 400 (1 minute, 5.41 seconds) and the long jump (16 feet, 7 inches) and was second in the 100 (13.09) for Fountain Central. The highest finish for the boys team was in the 1,600 relay with the team of Gavin McCollum, Hayden Wigley, Brandon Pigg and Caylum Wills taking fifth (3:56.95).
