Clemsonbasketball begins postseason play on Wednesday night in Charlotte, opening the 2026 ACC Tournament against a familiar opponent. Brad Brownell’s Tigers draw Wake Forest in the second round at Spectrum Center, setting up a rematch of a game played less than a month ago.
Clemson enters the matchup at 22-9 after closing the regular season with a 79-76 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Tigers spent much of that game playing from behind before taking the lead for good with just over four minutes remaining. Nick Davidson and Butta Johnson each scored 15 points to pace Clemson, while Carter Welling added 13 and Ace Buckner finished with 10. Despite the win, the Tigers head into the tournament having dropped five of their last seven games.
Wake Forest advanced to Wednesday’s matchup after defeating Virginia Tech 95-89 in overtime on the opening night of the tournament. The Demon Deacons also got the better of Clemson during the regular season, knocking off the Tigers 85-77 in Winston-Salem on Feb. 18.
The teams are meeting for the 172nd time in series history, with Wake Forest holding a 103-68 advantage. Wednesday night’s late tip is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET and will air nationally on ESPN2 from Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
