Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold (6) practices during mini camp at Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Cornerback Terrion Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions this week after being arrested on felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping last week. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star was released after posting a $1 million bond on Tuesday, but is now a free agent just two seasons after being selected No. 24 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Lions.
Arnold’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, revealed that after being released by the Lions, his client was already courting attention from several NFL teams.
Lions Linked With Veteran CB After Terrion Arnold Release
In his latest article exploring the best free agent bargains still on the market, the Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton linked the Lions with a move for former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs to replace Arnold.
“Just two years ago, Trevon Diggs would’ve been a big-ticket free agent. He has two Pro Bowl seasons and one All-Pro campaign on his resume,” Moton wrote. “Diggs appeared in one regular-season game and played one defensive snap in the playoffs with the Packers, who cut him in January.
“Once a ball hawk in the Cowboys’ secondary, Diggs can rediscover his tip-top form if healthy ahead of the 2026 term. He finished the 2025 season without an interception, but if the six-year veteran makes it through training camp with another club, he could carve out a role in nickel and dime packages.”

Diggs signed a five-year, $97 million contract extension with the Cowboys in 2023 before he tore his ACL in practice, ending his season prematurely. The following season, he missed games due to a groin injury and underwent surgery on a lingering knee injury, once again ending his season.
As a result of his recurring injuries, Diggs has only appeared in 22 games in the last three seasons. After a sharp decline in his on-field performances and his refusal to board a team flight after a game against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day, the Cowboys released Diggs.

After he was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers, Diggs played in the team’s final game of the season and their Wild Card game before ultimately being released once again. After registering 27 total tackles (20 solo) last season, he earned a PFN Cornerback Impact score of 60.6, ranking No. 123 in the league.
In contrast, Arnold earned a PFSN Cornerback Impact score of 72.4, good for No. 77 in the league, after tallying 31 total tackles (23 solo), eight passes defended, and one interception for the Lions last season.
