I’ll never understand the coaches who get second chances in positions in which they drastically failed.
Decision makers in successful front offices usually look at a situation closer than the standard fan, "did he win a playoff game in year 3? "did he turn our trash QB into a top 10 guy?"

Petzing served as the Cardinals’ offensive coordinator the past three seasons, with Arizona ranking 24th (2023), 12th (2024) and 23rd (2025) in scoring. They were 19th (2023), 11th (2024) and 19th (2025) in yards.

I see things like this and think the rest of the league knows the cardinals organization is really an inept bunch of buffoons. They clearly know more than we do.

I think I'd give Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes the benefit of the doubt. They seem to know what they're doing, don't you think?
If he is the second coming of Ben Johnson, I hope is back here in 3 years.

The rest of the league seems to be laughing at this hiring, but who knows.

I will say that blindly trusting a team where the last OC had his playcalling duties taken away from him halfway through his first year Is probably not the right call. We all saw what we saw over the last 3 years.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Petzing failed. Top 12 defense last year (granted with Klayton Adams). Definitely hard to justify any kind of hype train for him.

Well they were eliminated from the playoffs so hard to justify them being major brain-geniuses either.

Why are people all of a sudden acting like the Lions are a team that knows what they’re doing? Their history isn’t much better than ours! Ben Johnson left and their team fell apart. Let’s see what they do next year before we anoint them as a team to emulate.

I read an article that the lions hired Petzing because they wanted an OC that would be there for several years as opposed to having to start over year after year. So, apparently, they feel he's good but not good enough that they would lose him after one year. Sound thinking I suppose but seems kind of a weak theory overall IMO

Imagine never scoring over 20pts in a game in the season on offense.

Being a trrrible play caller especially in the redzone and you are rewarded with the same job after being fired.

Dan Campbell must be a total sucker.

Lions are going to love all the dive play calls with back up running backs. Or deep shots to back up WRs with the game on the line.

I wish him the best. I hope he is successful in Detroit. I think Monti threw the coaching staff under the bus. he is as much tp blame as the coaching staff. It's not the team is full of talented players.
