I kinda cant disagree with this.

Goff would be his first pure rhythmic passer. He showed he could call good run plays when the Oline is really good as well.

Maybe Kyler (either injured/ineffective/bad fit) was really holding him back. Or the Lions overvalued Drew.

We'll find out next year.

Goff has a much quicker and predictable release than Brissett, which should help Petzing get the offense in a flow.

I legit think he sold the Lions on:
Jacoby Brisset had a career year.
Michael Wilson was held back by his QB and put up 1K yards once he got a pocket passer.
Trey McBride went from a sketchy 2nd round pick to an All Pro.
Probably highlighted the analytics of his run game in 2024 with a really good OL/OL coach. (Lions have Fraley)

Again next year will tell the tale. However, stuff like that can be spun in his favor to get hired. Plus he's a friend of Ben Johnson.

I think I'd give Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes the benefit of the doubt. They seem to know what they're doing, don't you think?

They just hired Drew Petzing to replace whoever else held the job just one year.
