With the 2026 NFL Draft weekend upon us, teams will introduce their latest rookie class to the league in hopes of having them become part of the next Super Bowl puzzle. The draft also means finalizing past trades that included future draft picks. That includes a deal made in August, which moved wide receiver Tim Patrick from the Detroit Lions to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Original Terms of the Tim Patrick trade

  • Jaguars receive: Tim Patrick
  • Lions receive: 2026 sixth-round pick

What did the Lions do with the pick from the Tim Patrick trade?

The Lions selected Texas Tech DT Skyler Gill-Howard with the 205th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

How was Tim Patrick’s performance for the Jaguars?

Patrick struggled in his lone season with the Jaguars. He only caught 15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers ended up being career lows for the former undrafted wideout out of Utah.

Who won the Tim Patrick trade?

Given that Patrick did not re-sign with the Jaguars after his 2025 campaign, the Lions are the current winners of the deal. The Lions need to develop the rookie they acquired in the deal for them to be viewed as true winners of this trade.
