LeBron James jokes about playing for another 24 years despite having the longest NBA career ever

LeBron James has been winning the battle against Father Time in the NBA, and he believes he could continue the fight for another two decades.

LeBron will be entering his 24th NBA season in 2026-27, adding another year to his already-established record of most NBA seasons played.

But if it was left up to the 41-year-old, he could be competitive on an NBA court for another 24 years.

LeBron James thinks he could be a 10-point scorer in the NBA till age 65​

During his live podcast with Tyrese Haliburton at the Fanatics Fest, Haliburton asked James how long could he realistically be a 10-point scorer in the NBA after averaging 20+ points at 41 years old.

“I can average 10 points and be in the league for… a long, long time… 65.”


James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds last season, which was Year 23 for the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

The all-time leading scorer will likely not continue playing in the NBA after another year or two to focus on his post-basketball life, but he probably could extend his career for many more years if he chose to.

He’s still putting up All-Star numbers and leading teams to Playoff series wins as the No. 1 option.

With him now being relegated to the third-best player on a team, LeBron could feasibly take another decade to regress out of a rotation on merit alone.

Even then, no player will be able to offer the kind of IQ James brings on the floor, further allowing him to play even longer.

This won’t happen. Even the great LeBron likely won’t have the mobility to spend five minutes on an NBA court at age 65, let alone score 10 points.

But this is an unprecedented battle against Father Time that we’re witnessing from LeBron. Unfortunately, the end comes for everyone, and James’ end might be upon us, despite his tall claims.
