LeBron James is excited about the next stop of his NBA journey — even if he isn’t sharing that important detail with fans just yet.
Speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York City on Thursday, July 16, the four-time NBA champion — who announced in June that he would be leaving the Los Angeles Lakers after eight season — failed to divulge where he’ll be suiting up next season when quizzed by Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.
“Just looking forward to what unfolds next as I wind down the final stages of my journey,” James, 41, said. “... It’s going to be pretty fun wherever I land.”
It was first revealed last month that James, a 22-time NBA All-Star, would be taking his talents elsewhere. Since that free agency bombshell dropped, speculation has run rampant about where he could play next, with rumors swirling about the Golden State Warriors or a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, with whom he won a title in 2016.

James and the Lakers reached the Western Conference semifinals in this year’s playoff race, but were swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in four games.
In the wake of L.A.’s playoff ouster, James offered a cryptic response about his future. “I don’t know what the future holds for me, obviously, as it stands right now tonight,” he said in May, according to the Associated Press. “I’ve got a lot of time now. I think I said it last year after we lost to Minnesota. I’ll go back and recalibrate with my family and talk with them and spend some time with them, and then obviously when the time comes, you guys will know what I decide to do.”
With James now poised for a 24th season, the father of three made it clear he has no intentions of slowing down. “I love to play, man, I love the competition, I love going out there and playing against the best in the world,” he said at Fanatics Fest on Thursday.
James also speculated he could average 10 points in the league until he’s 65 years old.
A four-time league MVP, James averaged 20.9 points per game, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds during the 2025-26 season, when he played alongside fellow superstar Luka Doncic.
