There's not a whole lot of change in this week's girls basketball power rankings, but if one thing is clear: a couple of league title races involving several Wayne/Holmes Country schools are as tight as ever.

West Holmes moves into this week's Top 10 as the Knights are winners of their last four games, including taking their second win of the season over Lexington. Briar Cline (12 points, seven rebounds, four steals, two assists) and Mati Fair (11 points, six steals, five assists) led the way in Saturday's win over Lexington.
There's not much separating Orrville and Smithville right now, but the Red Riders are above the Smithies due to being higher in their league standings (Orrville is third in the PAC; Smithville is fifth in the WCAL).
Not only are Loudonville and Triway both overall playing well (both have a 12-5 record), but their league form has been impressive of late. Both the Redbirds and Titans are second in their respective leagues. The Titans are coming off winning four of their last five games, while the Redbirds have won five games in a row that included defeating Centerburg (first place in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference) 49-40 on the road last week.
Both teams are in a nice groove right now and, guess what? They meet up on Wednesday at Loudonville in what should be quite a nonconference matchup before each team goes back to trying to chase a league title.
The top five teams in the Wayne/Holmes County rankings this week remains and it will most likely stay that way until the regular season ends. We're in one interesting league race in the Wayne County Athletic League, where the quality of the top four teams looks mighty solid.
Waynedale is currently fourth in the WCAL as the Golden Bears lost a tight one at Chippewa 42-39 last week (second loss to the Chipps this year). They should be favorites in their next three league games against Rittman, Hillsdale and Smithville before they meet Norwayne in the last regular season game of the season.
Before they lost a 56-55 nonconference outing against 13-4 Tuscarawas Valley on Saturday — with Grace Dorffer leading the way with 26 points — Dalton had won five games in a row, including a key win over Waynedale in that stretch. The Bulldogs are just one game back of Chippewa and Norwayne for first place in the WCAL, and that makes Dalton's visit to Chippewa on Saturday an even bigger game.
Chippewa is right there tied with Norwayne at the top of the WCAL with an 8-1 league record as the Chipps only league loss came against Norwayne in early December. Of the Chipps' five losses, four have come in nonconference action against some really good foes, like 16-2 Canfield, 15-2 Medina Highland and 12-3 Laurel — the No. 2 ranked team in Division IV by MaxPreps.
Coming off completing a season sweep of Waynedale last week, they get Dalton on Saturday in another meaningful WCAL game.
After losing their showdown matchup with Hiland early last week, Norwayne came out and handled Smithville 59-37 on Thursday. Norwayne will get Hillsdale and Rittman coming up to close out this week before they go into a challenging four-game stretch, where they will play Chippewa, Dalton, Waynedale and Loudonville at the tail end of the regular season.
Hiland stays No. 1, even after taking a 17-point road loss to the same Tuscarawas Valley team that beat Dalton over the weekend. They bounced back nicely against Sandy Valley and should be favorites in their last three regular season outings as the postseason approaches.
