Norwayne (17-2, 11-1) at Chippewa (14-7, 11-2), Saturday, Feb. 14, 1:30 p.m.

Norwayne and Chippewa have been in that 1-2 spot in the Wayne County Athletic League standings for much of the season, and that's where each sit right now. Norwayne is in first place in the WCAL at 11-1 (record will change depending on their result Thursday vs Waynedale) and Chippewa stands at 11-2. On Saturday, both teams will meet with the WCAL title on the line, which is a rematch of their Division V regional semifinal game last season in which the Bobcats edged out the Chipps 42-38.

If Norwayne wins against Waynedale and beat Chippewa on Saturday, they win the outright league title. If Norwayne loses against Waynedale on Thursday, both Norwayne and Chippewa enter the game with an 11-2 league record and Saturday's winner will claim the WCAL title outright.

If Norwayne beats Waynedale they will head into Saturday's game with a 12-1 record and Chippewa at 11-2. A Chippewa win over Norwayne would leave both teams with a 12-2 league record, which in that case would make both co-WCAL champions since there are no head-to-head tiebreakers.

Norwayne won the first meeting way back in December 48-40 at home. We'll see how Saturday's outcome plays out for both.

Triway (15-6, 10-2) at Loudonville (14-6, 11-3), Saturday, Feb. 14, 6:45 p.m.

This nonconference game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, but it was postponed due to inclement weather. The Titans (finished second in the PAC) and the Redbirds (KMAC winners) will meet on Saturday in a quality matchup, which will be the regular season finale for both.

Boys Basketball

Smithville (15-5, 11-2) at Waynedale (11-9, 6-6), Friday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m.

This game is crucial in the sense that a Smithville win over Waynedale will give them at least a share of the WCAL title. This will also be the Smithies last league game of the season. Norwayne (currently second in the WCAL), who have two league games left and a season split with Smithville, have a chance to share the league title if they are victorious in their games against Rittman and Hillsdale.

Boys Wrestling

2026 OHSWCA State Dual Wrestling Championships

Division II at Columbus Bishop Watterson High School, Saturday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m.

Division III at Marion Elgin High School, Saturday, Feb. 14, 11 a.m.

In Division II, West Holmes (the No. 5 seed) will be the lone Wayne/Holmes County school competing in the big statewide wrestling event. The eight-team field alongside West Holmes will feature Bishop Watterson, Bellevue, Sandusky Perkins, West Geauga, Canfield, New Lexington and Columbus DeSales.

In Division III, Waynedale and Tuslaw will each represent the Wooster-area. Waynedale, the No. 1 seed, and eighth-seeded Tuslaw will compete with Barnesville, Delta, Archbold, Versailles, Lake Catholic and Miami East.

The wrestling over the weekend should be high-point.
