The Los Angeles Lakers are locking down a star of their summer league squad.
Forward Arthur Kaluma is being signed to a two-way deal, reports ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.
“Kaluma, who spent 2025-26 in Lakers G League program, averaged nearly 19 points, 61% shooting and 50% on 3s in Las Vegas summer league,” Charania added.
Kaluma had been a member of the South Bay Lakers this past season, Last season with South Bay, averaging 14.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 35 games.

It was this summer, though, that he truly broke out.
Kaluma and the rest of the Lakers squad had a solid summer, finishing their time in Vegas with a loss in the semifinals.
That said, Kaluma turned heads, including that of ESPN’s Ben Golliver, who called him the best undrafted player in this year’s Summer League.
“Kaluma’s timing for a stellar summer league couldn’t be any better: The Lakers are looking for size, physicality and two-way contributors as they rebuild their frontcourt following the departures of James and Rui Hachimura,” Golliver wrote. “… Kaluma, who went undrafted in 2025 after a four-year college career, has been a pleasant surprise on the offensive end for a Lakers team that reached the tournament’s semifinals.”

As Golliver mentioned, Kaluma will get a chance to show what he can do.

The Lakers have Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves in the backcourt and the newly acquired Walker Kessler and Kevon Looney at center, but departures like LeBron James and Rui Hachimura create an opportunity for someone to step up at the forward position.
Whether that’s Kaluma, the newly acquired defensive-oriented forward Matisse Thybulle or someone else remains to be seen, but the door is open for a forward to make an impact.
