After a standout performance in Summer League this year, forward Arthur Kaluma has made a strong case for the Los Angeles Lakers to sign him to a two-way contract.
Kaluma went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Texas. Then, the Lakers waived him just before the beginning of the season, and Kaluma spent his entire first professional season in the G League with the South Bay Lakers.
Last season with South Bay, Kaluma averaged 14.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 35 games.

In this year’s Summer League, Kaluma proved he can be a depth piece for the Lakers’ frontcourt. Kaluma would be extra helpful for Los Angeles now that players like LeBron James and Rui Hachimura have left in free agency.
ESPN’s Ben Golliver named Kaluma the best undrafted player in Summer League this season.
“Kaluma’s timing for a stellar summer league couldn’t be any better: The Lakers are looking for size, physicality and two-way contributors as they rebuild their frontcourt following the departures of James and Rui Hachimura,” Golliver wrote. “… Kaluma, who went undrafted in 2025 after a four-year college career, has been a pleasant surprise on the offensive end for a Lakers team that reached the tournament’s semifinals.”
The Lakers will need to make a decision quickly on whether or not to sign Kaluma to a two-way deal. Los Angeles only has his G League returning rights, so Kaluma is eligible to sign a two-way contract or standard NBA contract with another organization.
As of now, the Lakers already have a full 15-man roster. Chris Manon, AK Okereke and Peter Suder also hold the three two-way roster spots. But after his breakout performance in Summer League, the Lakers might want to figure out a way to secure Kaluma to a two-way contract.
