The College World Series will begin Thursday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tennessee (47-10) will face Texas (47-11) at 2:30 p.m. EDT. ESPN will televise the matchup.
Thursday’s contest will be the 16th meeting between the Lady Vols and Longhorns. Texas leads the all-time softball series, 8-7, dating to Feb. 14, 1998.
Texas joined the Southeastern Conference in 2025. Since joining the SEC, the two schools have played four times. Tennessee won a three-game series, 2-1, April 11-13, 2025 in Austin, Texas.
The Lady Vols and Longhorns also played on June 2, 2025 in the College World Series. Texas won, 2-0, at Devon Park.
Tennessee hosted Texas in the 2023 NCAA Tournament Knoxville Super Regional May 26-27, 2023. The Lady Vols swept the super regional and advanced to the College World Series.
The two schools also played each other in the 2013 College World Series. Tennessee defeated Texas, 2-1, on June 2, 2013.
