The 2028 Summer Olympics are still more than two years away.
The time to buy tickets, however, starts now.
The first purchase windows for fans in Oklahoma City and Los Angeles who were selected for the locals presale open Thursday, April 2. The presale windows will open Monday, April 6.
Tickets for canoe slalom and softball, events that will be held in OKC, are expected to go quickly.
“We really encourage people to familiarize themselves with our competition schedule before their purchase time to help make that process easier and a little bit less stressful for them,” LA28 vice president of business strategy and analytics Allison Katz-Mayfield said earlier this week.
She smiled.
“I have friends who have even at this point created a spreadsheet for all of their desired schedules to make their purchase process and experience as efficient as possible.”
Now, spreadsheets for folks in LA might be necessary since the bulk of the Olympic competition will be held there.
In OKC, the schedule is lighter with only two sports.
Still, here are some basics to help you as you purchase tickets.

Two days before your purchase window opens, you’ll get an email saying you've been selected, then a day before another email with a link to access the ticket website will arrive. Click on that link and log in when your purchase window opens to have the best availability — then start shopping.
Once you’re there, you’ll log in using the email and password that you established when you signed up for the ticket draw. You’ll then join the purchasing queue, and when you’re allowed in, you’ll be able to start accessing available tickets.
You can search by sport and by zone.
If you just want tickets for the OKC events, you can search for canoe slalom, softball or Oklahoma City.
At the start of the presale, tickets for both sports and every session will be available — note that each day of canoe slalom is a single session while every game of softball is its own session — but as the process continues, the availability will decrease. You may find, for example, that tickets for the gold medal softball game are still available in later purchasing windows but that the only ones left are at the highest price points.

Depends on where you want to sit and whether medals are being awarded.
LA28 organizers have said that the cheapest tickets available will be $28 and that nearly half of all tickets will be less than $200 while more than 75% will be less than $400.
About 5% of all tickets will be over $1,000.
Canoe slalom runs from July 14-22, 2028 at the OKC Whitewater Center while softball goes July 23-29, 2028 at the OKC Softball Park.
Medals in canoe slalom will be awarded July 15, 16, 18, 19 and 22.
Softball will play its bronze medal game on July 28 and its gold medal game on July 29, with the medal ceremony afterward.
Canoe slalom is slated to start every morning at 9 a.m., and while its finishing time will vary, competition isn’t expected to go much beyond the noon hour.
Softball will have three games a day during the first five days of its seven-day run. During that round-robin stage, games will be at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The bronze medal game on July 28 will be at 7 p.m. while the gold medal game on July 29 will be at 9 a.m.
Fans can buy up to 12 tickets for Olympic events, and the combination can be for any sport or any session.
Additionally, people can buy a maximum of four tickets for the Opening Ceremony and a maximum of four tickets to the Closing Ceremony, both of which will be held in Los Angeles, as well as a maximum of 12 tickets for soccer, which will be held in six cities around the country in addition to Pasadena, CA.
That means a fan could buy a maximum of 32 tickets.

Once an assigned purchase window opens, it will be open for 48 hours or until a fan has purchased the maximum number of tickets.
A few things:
∎ Once you put your first ticket into your shopping cart, a 30-minute clock starts. If you don’t complete the purchase process by the time that clock expires, those tickets will no longer be in your cart. In other words, the clock doesn’t restart when you put additional tickets in your cart.
∎ If you find a session that you like but you aren’t ready to commit to buying tickets for it, you can bookmark the session page for easier navigation should you want to go back.
∎ You won’t be picking seats but rather buying seats in a certain category, based on the ticket prices. Actual seats will be assigned closer to the start of the Games.
∎ Preliminary sessions and non-medal days will be cheaper options if you’re on a budget.
∎ If you don’t max out your tickets, you will be entered for spots in later ticket drops when additional tickets are expected to be made available. But if you reach your 12-ticket maximum, you will not be eligible to purchase more.
∎ All tickets will be digital, but you’ll have the option to buy a commemorative printed keepsake ticket.
∎ Once you complete the purchase process on the ticket website, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
