The 2028 Summer Olympics will soon put out the help-wanted sign.
Needed: volunteers.
Tens of thousands of them, actually.
On July 14, exactly two years before the start of the Games, LA28 will open its portal for volunteer applications. The process will include the need for volunteers in Oklahoma City, which will be home to canoe slalom and softball during the Olympics.

LA28 is expecting to need around 60,000 volunteers to help with events in Los Angeles, Oklahoma City as well as the cities where early-round soccer matches will be held.
“Volunteers are the backbone of the Games,” LA28 chief executive officer Reynold Hoover said in a release. “They are a friendly face who helps welcome the world, create memorable experiences, and bring the Olympic and Paralympic spirit to life.”
While the Olympic events in OKC will run July 14-29, 2028, the Olympic volunteer period starts in March 2028 and runs through August 2028.
Each volunteer must commit to a minimum of 10 shifts during that period.
Applicants will be asked to include their preferred location to volunteer and any special skills that they have that might qualify them for a specialized role. Volunteer roles include: welcoming and guiding fans and athletes; providing medical assistance; and helping with translation assistance.
Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up for updates on the volunteer page at LA28.org. More information will be provided prior to the volunteer portal opening on July 14.
Anyone who has already indicated an interest in volunteering for the 2028 Games will receive an email with the next steps in the application process. That process must be completed in its entirety to be considered for an Olympic volunteer role.
