There’s no question Matthew Stafford was the most important player on the Los Angeles Rams last season, but the run game with Kyren Williams and Blake Corum helped keep the offense balanced. It was one of the most efficient rushing attacks in the NFL, averaging the sixth-most yards per carry and seventh-most total yards on the ground – despite having a quarterback who contributes nothing as a runner.
Williams rushed for 1,252 yards while sharing the backfield with Corum, who added 746 yards and six touchdowns of his own. The Rams were able to keep both players fresh and healthy thanks to this newfound timeshare, which was exactly their goal when they drafted Corum in the third round two years ago.
Williams told FanSided that he’s excited to keep building off his stellar 2025 season with Corum, looking forward to continuing to get better next season.
“I think the things he’s able to do is great,” Williams said. “He’s able to create explosives, he’s able to get those tough yards in third-down situations, so I'm super excited with the way we’re able to keep feeding off each other and continue to keep being the best backs that we can.”
As explosive as the passing game was, the Rams want to be a run-first offense that wins the line of scrimmage and sets the tone with a physical rushing attack. They checked that box last season with Williams and Corum, and there’s no reason to believe it’ll change in 2026.
If the offense can stay on schedule on second and third down with efficient runs, it’ll keep everything else open with the passing attack.
