Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner knows a bit about how to play the position. As an expert, Warner had some advice for second-year Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.
Nix often looks skittish in the pocket, which has led to several off-target throws and inaccurate passes. Warner noticed Nix's happy feet, and talked about it on Twitter/X.
"I know (Bo Nix) throws really well on the run, but I get anxious just watching him play," said Warner. "He’s almost moving before he even hits top of drop... and, for sure, it helps him some times, but sure seems to hurt him way more often!"
Warner then gave Nix advice on how to settle himself in the pocket. "I’ve always felt when feet are moving fast, mind is moving fast & tougher to slow it down," Warner said. "I feel he has to play slower & have more patience in pocket!"
Warner may be onto something. Although Nix is used to doing bootlegs and sprint options, when he is not in those run-pass situations, Nix has to remain settled. When Nix is comfortable in the pocket, he is as good as any quarterback in the league. When he's not, the Broncos usually find themselves in a three-and-out slump.
Nix will look to right the ship against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, in a battle that will have big implications in the race to win the AFC West.
