Cambridge United striker Kylian Kouassi could miss most of the rest of the season following a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Kouassi, who is on loan from Blackpool, suffered the injury against Barnet in November and was expected to be out for about three months.

But boss Neil Harris has now confirmed that the 22-year-old will be out for "at least another month".

Meanwhile, captain Michael Morrison is ready to return to the U's squad as they look to secure automatic promotion from League Two.

The 38-year-old also suffered a hamstring problem in November and then was hit by a calf injury in training as he was preparing for a January comeback.

He is now fully fit again and Harris told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's a brilliant pro and a great guy, he understands where he's at and he's getting a bit closer to being ready for action, he's a little bit more desperate to be involved.

"At the moment, we're just delighted to have Michael back and in the training group with the experience and composure that he brings.

"To have the qualities of Michael Morrison, ready to step in if needs be, is really powerful for me."

Morrison has made 15 appearances this season in his second spell at the club where he began his career.

Cambridge are third in the table, two points clear of Notts County in fourth, and will be away to Barnet on Saturday.
