Knicks would be making worst decision in past decade after random Mikal Bridges trade rumor originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The New York Knicks have been the hottest team that we've seen in quite some time, and as a result, they now find themselves in the NBA Finals for the first time in many years.

The Knicks are definitely in a position to win a championship if they keep playing the type of basketball they have, even if some still don't want to give them the credit they deserve. The Knicks have been absolutely dominant throughout these playoffs and deserve much more respect for what they've wanted to do.

Frankly, it's been a team effort, and one of the guys who has really stepped up is Mikal Bridges.

Of course, when speaking about Bridges, there's always going to be some conversation about whether the Knicks traded too much for him or not.

Moving on from five first-round picks and more in the deal with the Brooklyn Nets, I understand why fans always want him to be a superstar.

However, Bridges isn't that type of player, and he doesn't need to be for the Knicks. In fact, the way he's playing in the playoffs is exactly why New York brought him to this roster.

For those reasons and more, it's very questionable why some are still considering him a trade candidate, including Sean Deveney of Heavy, who recently said that a playoff renaissance could save his time in New York.

“Mikal Bridges, Knicks. (Remaining contract: four years, $150 million.) Can a playoff renaissance save his Knicks tenure? It would take a lot to erase what a struggle this season has been for him, and the Knicks are looking for some payroll flexibility,” Deveney wrote.

Unless the Knicks go to the NBA Finals and lose embarrassingly, there's just no way I can see them moving on from Bridges.

Of course, we can never say never in the NBA, but trading him just wouldn't make any sense.
