The Knicks’ long-awaited return to the NBA Finals quickly delivered a scare as Jalen Brunson went to the locker room with an apparent leg injury during the first quarter.

A collision between the Knicks’ Landry Shamet and the San Antonio Spurs’ Harrison Barnes caused the latter to collapse into Brunson’s right knee with 2:03 left in the first quarter of Game 1 at Frost Bank Arena.

Brunson was in visible discomfort before he checked out about 30 seconds later and went into the tunnel.

He then returned to the Knicks’ bench at the start of the second quarter and checked back in with 8:03 remaining in the first half.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
