The Falcons had already let Cousins know a few weeks ago that he would be released, and yesterday the team announced they had signed former Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailio.

So what’s next for Cousins? Well, according to some NFL insiders, he may be headed to Pittsburgh to join the Steelers.

Since Aaron Rodgers has yet to announce his intentions for the 2026 season, the Steelers seem to have interest in signing the quarterback, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora says, according to sources, Cousins has emerged as a “top option” for them.

The Steelers are high on Will Howard as their future starter; however, they like to pair him with another veteran quarterback in case Rodgers has decided to call it a career.

Even if Rodgers does return, it doesn’t hurt to have another veteran on your squad in case something does happen to him, which worked out for the Atlanta Falcons last season.

Although Cousins was benched for rookie Michael Penix Jr. back in 2024, when Penix was hurt last season, Cousins stepped in and led the team down the stretch.
