Also penalties and referee decisions can be momentum changers.

Calls like that have ramifications beyond that single play.

only if you allow them to be. Teams deal with bad calls - good teams deal them and put them behind them - like we did the last two weeks - this was a return to form unfortunately. Also - at 28-15 - I still don't think we're really "in the game" - there wasn't much time left and Pittsburg would have toughened up. In addition to that even at 28-15 or 28-17 - you still need two scores to get back into it - so why not kick the field goal there and again give your chance a shot at two scores and two point conversions to tie it?

After the penalty on the replay they should have kicked the FG. But would he have made it? They may have had a better chance at the TD. :(

sadly - that's true. Does it bother anyone else we've scored over 20 points ONCE this season? Jerry Sullivan is a WRs coach and nothing more.

Might have been a different game if we get that touchdown.

Steeler fan chiming in. Blake got a horrible spot on that 4th and 1. That was a first down. On the goalline series, what i don't understand is the ball was at the 5 yard line,so why was Chad Scott allowed to push Boldin out of bounds? That was pass interferance on Scott,so it should have been 4 new downs. If you look at it another way,the one foot crossed the goaline,as the ball went into Boldin's arms. I didn't know if he had possession or not when the ball hit Boldin's arms and came back across the goal line. The pass interferance when TE Riemersma was going toward the goal line looked to be out of reach. The Cards defensive back Hill did hold his arm while the ball was in the air. So you could say that Hill knew he got beat and shouldn't have grabbed him. He did that since he did get beat though. Now my complaints.

How in the hell do the Cards not get one holding call all game? Don't tell me that didn't happpen cause i saw it a number of times and it allowed Blake to escape from the Steelers pass rush. Thats bull. If the Steelers can get called for 3 holding calls on offense,it doesn't make sense that the Cards didn't get called for one all game. You can expect the idiot ref Jeff Triplette to have a horrible officiating crew. After all he is the one who threw the flag and hit the player that almost lost his eye. :(

Actually, SUPPOSEDLY what happened, was this:

They called it a catch, said the player had been forced out and came back, said it was down on the one, penalty declined by Pittsburgh, reviewed, and you know the rest.

What I HEARD: Called it a catch, said it was a LEGAL catch, but short of the TD, reviewed the play, said it was a TD but a penalty, and the rest is history.

Bottom line? This is second only to the Cleveland game several years ago for poor replay crap. The Browns did throw an incomplete pass, but it was called complete, the Browns snapped the ball before any kind of challenge could be called. Then the refs allowed a challenge. How? THEY BROKE THEIR OWN DAMN RULES! This was on the same level, IMO.

Exactly if they want to call a penalty based on the review how about illegal contact for pushing BJ out of bounds (he was more then 5 yards down the field.) Then how about the defender holding on to his jersey as he caught the ball IN THE END ZONE!

And while we are at it how about the block in the back on the punt return by Randall-Ell. Ok sorry I lost my head there, but the point I am making here is you can't call a penalty based on a review, if it wasn't called by an official on the feild then it didn't happen!!!!!!

I was unfortunately the only Cards's fan watching the game in a bar filled with Steelers' fans. Of course they called the refs brilliant.

There is something else we're missing about the play- The original call was that Johnson was forced out (judgement call, right?) then he reestablished himself in bounds, caught the ball short of the goal line. Mac challenges. After reviewing the play, Johnson was not forced out, he was in the endzone and now we get to call a penalty.

There are TWO screwups- one you cannot call penalties off replays and two you cannot review a judgement call. Think of all the TDs they would have to take away from Michael Irvin for pushing off!
