Not sure if this is the right place for this discussion, but shouldn't the NFL move the kickoff point to the 25 yard line? There almost never is a return at this point, so why bother? Just give it to the receiving team at the 25 and get on with it.

Nah...... Move the kickoff point to the 25 so there's some returns.

Our success rate on taking it out and getting it past the 25 has to be under 10%...I cringe every time we decide to try a return, it never works, and often gets a penalty.

Yeah they've actually been trying to decrease the amount of kickoffs returned, to decrease the amount of injuries that happen on kickoffs, because kickoffs are known to have the most injuries. So they are likely not going to do anything to increase the amount of kickoffs that get returned.

Exactly...they're basically daring teams to try it because all the rules are slanted to make it not work. Returns = injuries, and just taking it at the 25 is almost always the smart move.

I'm okay with that, but then just stop the charade of the kickoff.

Only good thing about the kickoff is the onside kick. If they automatically gave receiving team the ball at the 25, it removes some excitement from the game.
