The Atlanta Falcons' six-player draft class is hoping to make a good impression as the team works through its second round of OTAs. This group includes fourth-round pick Kendal Daniels, who is now good to go after dealing with a foot issue.
Daniels was spotted in a walking boot last week, which caused some concern among the fans. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked about the rookie's status during his Wednesday press conference.
"He's okay," Stefanski said of Daniels. "Not going to get into all of the specifics, but he's good to go. He's out of the boot."
However, Daniels did not participate at Wednesday's OTAs, so perhaps the team is being cautious with the rookie.
The former Oklahoma standout is expected to compete for one of the team's two inside linebacker spots this season. The Falcons did not re-sign Kaden Elliss in free agency, instead letting the veteran sign with the New Orleans Saints.
The ultra-versatile Elliss was a key piece in Jeff Ulbrich's scheme last season, but now that he's gone, somebody is going to have to pick up the slack next to Divine Deablo.
Daniels, a former safety-turned-linebacker, will compete with veterans Christian Harris and Troy Andersen for the other starting spot. Harris, who signed with the team in free agency, is considered the front-runner. However, Andersen should also be in the mix if he can stay healthy.
The Falcons also drafted LSU linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. in the sixth round. The former Tigers standout can provide some much-needed depth this season. Both Daniels and Perkins have the kind of versatility that Ulbrich covets at the linebacker position.
We wouldn't sleep on these two, even if they were selected on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft.
