The Atlanta Falcons have been waiting patiently for the NFL to decide whether or not to suspend edge rusher James Pearce Jr. following his offseason arrest for aggressively stalking his ex-girlfriend and resisting police officers.
While many around the league expect Pearce to receive some form of multi-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, we've heard very little about it. Atlanta's 2025 sack leader is back with the team at training camp, and despite missing a portion of OTAs, Pearce seems to be back to business as usual.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked about Pearce's presence and status following Friday's practice and had plenty of good things to say about the second-year edge rusher.
"He's doing a really nice job," said Stefanski. "Obviously, we're just a few days into camp, so making up for some of the time he missed in the spring from a mental standpoint but he's doing a nice job with what we're asking of him in the weight room, on the field, in the meetings, so he's handling his business and doing a really nice job."
Pearce led the team with 10.5 sacks and helped Atlanta record its highest team sack total in franchise history with 57 last season. His potential absence would create a big hold along the front seven, however, the team has other capable players, including second-year linebacker Jalon Walker.
The Falcons also signed Samsom Ebukam and Azeez Ojulari, both of whom have starting experience.
