The Kentucky Wildcats and coach Mark Pope are hard at work preparing for the opening of the transfer portal on Apr. 7. The coaching staff is looking ahead at who they can add to improve the team, but still looking which players from last season they can bring back. One of those players is Kam Williams.

Williams came to Kentucky via the portal last season, transferring in from Tulane, where he averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds as a freshman. His first season at Kentucky was promising, with flashes of brilliance, but a broken foot forced him to miss a lot of action. The question is whether or not he'll be back for his junior season to try and take the next step.

Speaking to Kentucky Sports Radio about the future, Williams' father indicated that Williams would love to return to the Wildcats.

He said he loves Kentucky. This is where he wants to be. I’m just looking to hear that everything’s a done deal and this is where he’ll be.

The elder Williams indicated that he's letting Kam make the decision, and that he's looking to see what his role will be, and playing time will likely be a factor. However, it seems as though there's a path to a return. If so, it would be a big lift, as he is a terrific shooter, a good defender, and a player on the rise. We will update this story as it develops.
