The Minnesota Vikings quarterback competition is heating up now that training camp is here, and no one is backing down on social media from defending who they think should win the job. Through it all, the coaching staff has remained steadfast in their execution of this quarterback competition, while some on the outside consider it already Kyler Murray's job to lose.
However, based on the early returns of camp and practices, the momentum is now going the way of J.J. McCarthy. This week, Justin Jefferson was asked about what he thought of the competition for both players and what it can do to someone.
He explained, "Just obviously having somebody pretty much breathing down your neck and being pretty much a replacement or a person that's taking that starting role, it's always going to be pressure. It's always going to be that competition feeling."
He went on to comment that he does have one thing he is rooting for to come out of the quarterback battle between McCarthy and Murray.
"So I hope it definitely betters J.J. because he's definitely a younger guy. To be coming off of last year with a difficult year and improving every single day as he is, that's definitely great to see him come out here with that mentality."
Jefferson is the ultimate teammate and will support whoever is going to win the job. But seeing him give some public support to McCarthy is a nice gesture given what the public perception has been coming into the new season.
