Josh Kroenke’s Arsenal redemption is impossible to ignore after title win

Josh Kroenke has spoken openly about what it meant to see Arsenal crowned champions again, revealing: “My first phone call was to my dad, my second was to Mikel.”

That order matters. It reflects the two relationships that have defined Arsenal’s rise, the family ownership that stood behind the club and the manager who became its guiding force.

The title does not erase every misstep made under Kroenke Sports and Entertainment. But it does shift the conversation around their stewardship in a way that is impossible to ignore.

Kroenke’s explanation now feels important because he said: “I knew we were a sleeping giant that we needed to awaken in some way.” That was not just celebration. It was an admission that Arsenal had been below their level.

His acknowledgement carried even more weight when he added: “We are all humans, we all make mistakes, and it is one on a grand scale.” He did not pretend the anger never happened.

Mikel Arteta turned Kroenke patience into proof​

The Kroenkes stood by Arteta during difficult periods, and that faith has now been repaid. Arsenal ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title.

That is why the call to Arteta mattered so much. Kroenke said “Mikel really embraced that.” Arteta has reshaped the club’s identity in a way ownership is determined to protect.

There is no sense that Arsenal are settling for one title. The focus is already on keeping Arteta at the heart of the project and building even further.

Kroenke summed it up with the clearest sign that Arsenal’s ambition has moved on: “Champions of England sounds pretty good. And champions of Europe could sound even better.” With a Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon, this is no longer about repair. It is about power.
