This is kind of a mystifying move. If you don't get Mosley, you don't have anyone to play ILB. I wonder if he was too much of a two-gap player for what Joseph wants to do?
If I’m Big Red I’m trying like hell to get Mosley AND Jordan Hicks who’s a helluva player as well

I remember Bynes going on IR for a thumb or something? Got to wonder if that was a consideration for him getting released as well.

Who signs ILBs to be a passrusher?

I think that’s exactly what happened with Reddick.

Or maybe there is already a wink and nod for Mosley?

Even so, maybe he gets money-whipped by a team that plays by the rules? If you lose him, you have nothing.

Bynes was by no means a world-beater, but he was a useful player who could be depended on to do his job on special teams and as a 3rd ILB.

makes no sense at all. I’m guessing a suspension is on the horizon.

I can't understand why they released him? Maybe it was the coverage part? He seemed like one of the more consistent players on the defense last yr, only one making plays at times. I'd get so frustrated watching them play, change to another game, flip back & bam, bynes would make another play. 1.8 million in cap space doesn't seem like a lot to pay for if nothing else a solid back up on running downs.

This is simpler than people are posting. He can’t defend the pass. He didn’t get a deep enough draft in zone. He couldn’t man cover because he was to stiffen change of direction. He was solid against the run and he played hard. He’s just one dimensional and more flexible players are available.

He was a better version of Kevin Minter IMO, and we needed a guy like that.

The question is...... who can replace him at that price? I don't think there is someone like that out there unless we draft them. And I would have preferred using that capital elsewhere.

My counter argument. What linebacker on the roster can play solid against the run and defend the pass well ?

Not to mention, I will site the Rashad Johnson skill of being able to run a defense, and call out plays for the defense.

It was nice to have a linebacker that could actually play linebacker. We are now back to a DE that cannot play the run or call out a defense, and a safety that is no dimensional at the position.

This move coming from an organization that REFUSES to draft linebackers seems to be, at least at this moment, a poor decision.

But, I do agree there are more flexible players that SHOULD be available. Counting chickens before their hatched, tho.

Yet, maybe Vance Joseph has someone in mind, and a little inside information. We are very close to free agency, and it would be naive to think teams are not already talking to players.

Your last paragraph says it all!

One thing to keep in mind is that Joseph never relied on high dollar ILBs to run his scheme in Denver. It won't shock me if it is Reddick and Zeke Turner at ILB moving forward and maybe add a late FA signing that doesn't count towards comp picks.

Back in 2016, Brandon Marshall signed a 4-year $32 million contract (20 guaranteed). He was being paid as a top-10 LB.
