Future Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is already working on the transfer market for the Spanish capital club, per reports. Among the Special One's targets is a PSG player: Illya Zabarnyi.
The Spanish press has killed the suspense, and the official announcement will come next week: Mourinho will be the future coach of Real Madrid.
After two trophyless seasons, Florentino Perez has decided to bring back to the White House an experienced coach who has already succeeded at Madrid and who, he hopes, will know how to restore order to a locker room in complete chaos.
Mourinho will get to work as soon as he arrives, in addition to actively working on Real Madrid's transfer market. In his eyes, reinforcements are essential this summer to launch a new dynamic.
With uncertainty about the futures of David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, who are out of contract, Mourinho hopes in particular to persuade his management to recruit a central defender.
And for the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Benfica coach, a PSG player has the ideal profile to strengthen this area of the game. Against all expectations, the Special One is not thinking of Willian Pacho or Marquinhos, but of Zabarnyi, according to journalist Achille Ash.
"Among Jose Mourinho's prerequisites for the coaching position at Real Madrid, a list of several players would have been submitted. To everyone's surprise, there is a PSG player, Ukrainian international Zabarnyi, who greatly pleases the Special One. The Parisian club is not open to any negotiation at the moment," Ash wrote.
Bought for $71 million from Bournemouth a year ago, the Ukrainian has not yet convinced at PSG. He is, however, an important player in Luis Enrique's eyes, who used him heavily in Ligue 1 (28 matches).
His rise in power at the end of the season makes the Parisian management want to keep him, to see how far the former Dynamo Kyiv player can go. Real Madrid will therefore have to be very generous in signing Zabarnyi, probably aligning with the price PSG paid to recruit him, to get Luis Campos to give in.
