Candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid, Enrique Riquelme is aiming very high for the upcoming transfer window if he is elected. Among his targets: Fabian Ruiz, whose contract with PSG ends in June 2027.
A key player for Luis Enrique at PSG and a major architect of the 2025 Champions League title, Ruiz has only one year left on his contract with the Parisian club.
Indeed, the Spanish international is tied to the reigning European champion until June 2027, and for the time being, no agreement has been reached for an extension.
A windfall for his suitors, who are logically very numerous given the level the player has reached for more than two years now.
A starter for both PSG and Spain, the player who won the Euro and then the Champions League in 2024 and 2025 is reportedly a target of Real Madrid.
In the race against Florentino Pérez for the presidency of Los Blancos in early June, Riquelme is eager to bring the La Roja player back to Spain. According to information from El Gol Digital, Ruiz is indeed one of Riquelme's three priority targets to strengthen Real Madrid.
The media goes further, affirming that PSG "would be willing to negotiate" if the player insists on joining the club in the Spanish capital. It must be said that it would make sense for the Parisian club to favor Ruiz's departure this summer, rather than risk him leaving for zero euros in a year.
It remains to be seen what sum sporting director Luis Campos will set for the departure of the former Napoli player.
Meanwhile, the Spanish media explains that Rodri and Nico Williams are also targeted by Riquelme, who is sending dreams to the Socios before his duel against Perez.
Rather discreet in the transfer market, Real Madrid could undergo a complete revolution in the event of a presidential change in a few weeks. This could therefore impact PSG's transfer window in the event of Ruiz's departure.
In PSG's midfield hierarchy, both Vitinha and Joao Neves rank above the Spaniard. However, Ruiz has been key for the Parisian club on multiple occasions due to his ability to support left-back Nuno Mendes, allowing him to break forward into attack freely.
Additionally, the former Real Betis midfielder understands the importance of transition play and brings great value in this area. It must also be said that Warren Zaïre-Emery stepped up this season, and it is not crazy that the young Frenchman sometimes starts ahead of the Spaniard.
