Former Memphis football offensive lineman Jordan Devey has died. He was 38.

Devey began his collegiate career at Snow College before transferring to Memphis. He played for the Tigers in 2011 and 2012 before beginning an NFL career. He went undrafted, initially signing with the Baltimorre Ravens before joining the New England Patriots and winning a Super Bowl in 2014. He later spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Raiders and Buffalo Bills.
"Jordan spent countless hours volunteering as a coach for his own children’s teams and for the athletes at Eagle High School, where he was deeply loved by the players who saw him as a mentor, role model, and friend," reads the GoFundMe. "His commitment to uplifting those around him extended far beyond sports, as he faithfully served in his church, offering support, counsel, and friendship to anyone in need."
Devey's journey to the NFL was anything but straightforward. He stopped playing football in middle school because of a condition called Osgood-Schlatter disease that causes knee swelling. He later walked on at Snow before transferring to Memphis and ultimately making the NFL.
Devey was also an accomplished tuba player before he turned his attention back to football.
